ID state programs worth knowing
1. Idaho Disabled-Veteran Property Tax Reduction
Value: a reduction of up to $1,500/year
Idaho gives Veterans rated 100% service-connected disabled (or receiving 100% compensation due to individual unemployability) a property tax reduction of up to $1,500 on their home and up to one acre. There is no income limit for this benefit, and it is a capped reduction rather than a full exemption. Apply through your county assessor with VA rating documentation. Full guide.
2. Idaho Hunting + Fishing Licenses
Value: $50-$100/year
Resident disabled Veterans qualify for reduced-fee or free Idaho hunting and fishing licenses through Idaho Fish and Game. Apply with VA disability documentation at any license vendor or through the Idaho Fish and Game licensing system.
3. Idaho State Parks "Veterans" Passport
Value: free or discounted annual park access
Idaho offers a free or discounted State Parks "Veterans" passport for resident disabled Veterans, covering day-use entry at Idaho State Parks. Apply at a participating Idaho State Park or county DMV when registering a vehicle.
4. Veteran Designation on Idaho Driver's License
Idaho Veterans can add a "Veteran" designation to their Idaho driver's license or state ID card. Bring your DD-214 to an Idaho DMV office. The designation makes it simple to verify status for many Veteran discounts.
5. Idaho State Veterans Homes
Idaho operates State Veterans Homes in Boise, Pocatello, Lewiston, and Post Falls, providing skilled nursing and long-term care for eligible Veterans. Admission and cost details are handled through the Idaho Division of Veterans Services.
6. Idaho Division of Veterans Services
